We are excited to have been commissioned to prepare a scheme and provide guidance to sympathetically restore and remodel a portion of this wonderful early 17th Century Grade II listed property, occupying a secluded position within the Surrey Hills.
Originally built in 1663 as a timber framed Stuart house with exposed timber gable ends above a colour-washed flint and rubble under-build, with brick and flint chequer work infill panels, this property was subject to various alterations and additions during the Georgian and Victorian periods. These are easily identifiable due in part to its materiality but also the size and proportion of the spaces created.
Our sensitive design approach not only respected the historic integrity of this important building, but also ensured that the subtle internal alterations could be reversed if no longer required, ensuring minimum disturbance to the historic building fabric.
